Oh Comely

Before I start rambling this sums up Oh Comely Magazine :

'Oh Comely is a magazine about people and their quirks and their creativity, rather than money and what it can buy. It wages a delightful war on the gossip and vanity of conventional women's lifestyle mags.'

First issue is out NOW.

I urge you , no actually, if you're reading this I am (metaphorically speaking) going to rape your piggy bank of shiney coins in order for you to experience the wonders of this little piece of MAJOR fashion happiness. It has yummo cookie recipes :) annnnnnd lots of cheap vintage shopping :) :) annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd funny arty fashiony musicy stories with lots of praise for REAL PEOPLE.

...6 issues a year...so technically thats £2 a month...which when you do the maths is 50p a week...and per day (ok I think you get where I'm going with this one right)

A bit like i-D, dazed etc. But its prettier. And there's less of the pretentious talk and aspirational ideas. HELLO HIGHSTREET FASHION SHOOTS. But sort of arty at the same time.

I could go on.




But I'd rather not.







I'd rather you just buy it so that it gets a high enough circulation to not get discontinued for my benefit. Go ooooon :)



ohohohohoh but one thing I reeeeeeeeally like is the contents page on the front cover. It officially shows the finger to pushy ad lines.

Sorry Gaga fans...

Pop music being a special forte of mine and Gaga a particular current fav I have to say I was left deflated with the new Alejandro video.

I wrote the following to my good friend Darren (also major pop enthusiast)

have you watched gaga's new video yet... thoughts? alas i found it dissapointing. every costume change is a madonna throw back. like a prayer, the blonde ambition tour Gualtier cone corset and then there is a hell of alot of vogue referencing. i could probably write a thesis on such unoriginal music video ettiquette. but apart from that its quite epic.

we both agree that Christina Aguilera will be our way forward on the fashion front.

But then is she just copying Gaga with the whole bondage look??

But isn't Gaga doing a Madonna??

And what is Madonna doing with herself these days??

I can't keep up.

What I do know is I was expecting a bit of originality and it was a bit of failure for me. There we go, thats me getting on my soap box.
