Bobby

Bobby tells his story of how he got into modelling

– it all sounds effortless.

Helps that he’s perfect though.

so over it

disadvantages of working in fashion - you are always ahead of the time , which makes 'the time' boring.

Catwalks producing a season early , i get major style crushes on the big trends and then by time I can buy them I'm over it.

Fast fashion ...YOU'RE TOO FAST.

I'm getting excited for it to all kick off again in New York (even though I will be technically a year ahead - A/W 11/12 when we're still in A/W 10/11 seems a bit bizzarre).

Bring it.

I just discovered Lucas Nascimento

Despite being at one with London, Paris, Milan and NY there is (literally) a whole world out there that we westerners perhaps take too lightly...

And although our 4 mother of all fashion cities takes top priority its time to branch out of the comfort zone and embrace whats going on elsewhere.

For this particular post I want to present to you *drumrooooooole*

Rio Fashion Week.

beeeecause in a city where people wear nothing but itsy bitsy teeny weeny (on the whole not always yellow polka dot) bikini's , it all seems a tad ironic that there would be any need for an autumn/winter catwalk show...

surely the only change would be swapping a thong bikini for one that covers the general derriere area?

*sigh*

sifting through the good and the bad I came across Lucas Nascimento.

I tried to pin point which of the 4 fashion capitals he would fit into starting with:

its got a NY vibe. - Jason Wu and Donna Karan would be proud

...but then what about the oh so Mil-an-no cut outs and see through-ness?

but the HAIIIIR the hair is more , London? And OH GOD here comes Paris with its femnine floaty chic.

And so Mr Nascimento has put me into a category defining dilemma which if anything just makes him fabulous. Check out the catwalk show in the post below ;)

Hummingbird Bakery

Craving these today...
Its probably a good thing that I don't live near Portobello Road because I wouldn't get anything done in life... and I'd need a lifetime gym membership.

The favourite and oh so devilish:

*bowing down to screen*

Red velvet cupcake.

Frankie has turned me into a domesticated goddess as I possess the recipes for all of my confectionary needs all packaged in this pretty little thing:

And a B.E.A.Utiful apron from Anthropology (a store in which we became borderline obsessed with whilst across the pond in the U.S of A.)

pretty / yum-get-in-my-tum happiness <3

Black Widow

Started the new year in style, a cheeky little cocktail date with the girls last week (ooo la la). I'm usually pretty efficient, on time etc etc etccc however... standing between me and the front door (and furthering that my one too many cosmo's) was A HUGE GARGANTUAN MASSIVE SPIDER.

Why Lord? Oh why oh why oh whhhy would you bring a spider into my house at 7.34?

When I'm already late. And I hate. To be late.

I made sure it knew it wasn't welcome in my hallway by saying, to the spider 'You really are not welcome here - you ARE going to leave...now get on this bit of paper and under this glass pleaseandthankyou'

*I promise I'm not going mad*

Luckily it co-operated, but not without a 8 legged awkward bitch fight.

Even so I would not let a (not really) massive ginormous spider defeat me . HURRAHHH HA.

And to prove to you that I can't be THAT scared of creepy crawlys I am sharing a shoot with you that myself and Simon Hoddinott collaborated on just before christmas.

The models you see here are twins Mpho and Nyane and they did a great job of standing out in the cold wintery foresty weather one Sunday afternoon.

Its a bit Twilight, a bit theatrical but most importantly it proves that spiders can be, uhhh, stylish?

Got a feeling you can check out a few more on my site www.amytomstyling.com

Emma Wood

The day I met Emma Wood she had a hangover.

And yet she still looked like the most swish person I had ever met.

(Shes still pretty swish. Swish is such a good word.)

You NEED to check out her fashion blog because if anything her quirky finds really do put mine to shame... www.emmarrwood.blogspot.com

and if anyone from Marc Jacobs is reading this (WHHHHATTT IT COULD HAPPEN??!)

employ her. your sales will rocket.

Now that I'm back...I've become a superhero. and I'm using the C word.

How slack am I then??

November was my last post - that really is not acceptable (slap on the wrist for me) and so here I am, make a vow that I shall update my blog far more regularly than in recent weeks.

Half way through the fashion styling course HURRRRAHHHH and its all going pretty well - we've just finished the sustainable fashion unit and to be perfectly honest what a load of (expletives)

Now I can say that because its not like this blog would be considered for some prestigious blogger award (do they do awards?...googling as we speak...OH THERE IS A BLOGGER AWARDS THING - totally voting for myself hahaha , ya know, just for kicks, never know where it might lead - not that I'm encouraging you to do the same but ...you should)

ANYWAY IM DIGRESSING

where was I? oh yes sustainable fashion - I don't care.

(and if there was a part of me that once did care all feelings of caring definitely left my body when I once wore a £7000 Fendi fur coat designed exclusively by my homeboy Karl)

Don't get me wrong I feel bad about all of this. Third world labouring, harsh chemical dying of fabrics intoxicating us all, animal slaughter...

uuuuur ok I do care a bit, guilt pangs are a going.

ANYWAY THERE IS A POINT - and the point is when I was filling out my UCAS form at college I did not sign up for saving the planet through fashion - but if this is going to be a part of my future then I best man up and rise to the challenge...

SO , here goes.

I like a good charity shop find, a bit of originality, a good baaaargain... this could save the planet right?

I AM RIGHT.

because if we all bought SOMETHING second hand each season rather than that copy cat highstreet buy that everyone will be wearing, we can put money into not only a good cause but aid the slowing down of fast fashion which at its best could stop issues liiiike sweat shops and chemical plantations. Its something to think about, theres progress in it ya know.

Its a bit of a taboo using the C word to describe a brilliant fashion buy, but lets hold virtual hands and say it together -ready...

CHAAAAAAARIIITYYYYYY (shop)

its not so bad

and to prove this my sustainable fashion project jumped out at me in the form of glittery jackets , taffeta dresses and patent 1950s prom shoes

- soooo , here is the outcome :a bunch of hot girls making it okay for you to shop charity ;)
